Scholarship
· The McDonald’s/APIA Scholarship has supported 130 scholars and their families this year.
· Over half of the recipients live at or below the poverty line.
· More than 70% are the first in their family to attend college.
· The scholarship provides life-changing opportunities within APIA communities.
2026–2027 Scholarship Details
Awarded at two tiers:
Tier 1: $20,000 total, distributed over four years, supporting post-secondary education.
Tier 2: $5,000 one-time scholarship per academic year.
Selection criteria: academic achievement, community involvement, and financial need.
History
In 2003, McDonald's and the Asian McDonald's Operators Association helped establish APIA Scholars (formerly APIASF), the first organization dedicated to providing scholarships for underserved APIA students.
In 2008, McDonald's launched a national college workshop program to guide families through the admissions process, which has since grown into the free APA Next Summit featuring expert panelists and student leaders offering critical information and practical tips.
